Behavioural science (a multi-disciplinary combination of social psychology, behavioural economics and marketing) has become increasingly popular as a way to better understand human behaviour, and design more effective interventions. In recognition of its growing stature, the Royal Swedish Academy awarded the Prize in Economic Sciences to Richard Thaler for “his contributions to behavioural economics.”
Several governments have created “nudge” units to apply behavioural insights to their policies and programmes. International agencies like the World Bank, UN agencies and other institutions have also established their own behavioural science agencies.
Yet, behavioural science is still nascent in India. To change this and encourage more informed behaviour design, CSBC, along with Prof. Ravi Dhar & Prof. Nathan Novemsky from the Yale School of Management conducted a one-day workshop with partners on behaviour science. Prof. Dhar & Prof. Novemsky took the audience through simple, actionable frameworks with live examples of the application of behavioural science.
We hope to run more such workshops and training programmes in future to bring new learning to the field.
